Connecting with your audience is, if not the most powerful asset, one of the top skills you, the singer, can possess that will excel your singing career. But, really, can connecting to your audience be something that is learnt, or is it something you are born with? Answer: you can definitely learn it with the right vocal lessons, here's how.
Imitate your favorite artists. Now you have either gotten some books and CDs or hired a vocal coach. They will guide you in a better direction, but there are a few tips you can use to help you even more. First, realize it is OK to sound exactly like the singer. Some singers feel like if they copy everything another artist does, then that means they are not original. This is just not true. When you learn every nuance of a song and are able to sing it right, like the artist, you will have added a bunch of new tricks and runs to your skills. Eventually, you will be the sum of all your musical influences. So - learn songs EXACTLY how to sing in tune the artist sings them. You can be original when you have learned so much that you can create even better sounds.
Once you have made huge improvements, try playing and singing along any notes or a cluster of notes randomly and see if you can get them right. Upon being able to sing the random notes accurately, you can now choose a simple song and record yourself singing the song.
Covering Home Plate. We will go into much more detail later on. Be very cautious when covering home plate. Along with the line drive back to the mound, it is an extremely dangerous play for a pitcher! Make sure to stay in front of the plate and in fair territory. Make a quick swipe tag with your glove going quickly toward the ground to tag out the runner. In other words, you only want the base runner to slide into your glove and make sure the rest of your body is out of harm's way. Baseball pitching careers have ended because the pitcher has stood in the path of a sprinting base runner. Stay in front of the plate!
There are some very basic ways to build better singing voice that you can concentrate on. A very important area is breath control. Without proper breath control your singing will be very shaky and you will not be able to hit notes properly.
